  • Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
  • ~ Define bloodborne pathogens and identify the most common types and their risks.
  • ~ Explain how bloodborne pathogens are transmitted in occupational settings.
  • ~ Apply the concept of Universal Precautions to all blood and OPIM (Other Potentially Infectious Materials).
  • ~ Identify and properly use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • ~ Demonstrate safe handling and disposal procedures for sharps and contaminated waste.
  • ~ Execute the correct steps to take immediately following a potential exposure incident.
  • ~ Recall employer responsibilities under OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens standard.
